year was 2004 and it was while working with her husband Richard in their
collision repair shop that Susan Rodriguez decided to become an independent
insurance agent. Susan had noticed a pattern in what her customers
would say about their insurance when they had
to file a claim:
"What? I don't have rental reimbursement?
My agent told me I had full coverage.”
AND
"I didn't know I wasn't covered! I bought my policy online . . . I didn't really understand all that insurance lingo . . . "
Comments like the ones above made it obvious that many people had no idea what their insurance policies covered.
Susan realized the insurance market needed more agents that acted as insurance advisors rather than sales people. So she decided to do something about it. Susan studied insurance, got licensed in Property and Casualty which enabled her to provide policies to her customers with their best interest in mind.
